Breaking news, y’all. I just got done with my follow-up appointment, and the doctor said I can start running again!
I still have two more physical therapy sessions, where I’ll start my slow transition back to running. But … running! I can do it!
And it’s been quite a transition, from watching the golf ball-sized lump on my foot shrink to nothing to coming to grips with just how weak my right side had gotten. This is how I felt at my first physical therapy session:

Now I know I can’t go out and do a seven-miler tomorrow (but, man, do I want to!). I want this recovery thing to last … at least until I trip and take a most ungraceful tumble once again. So I’m gonna take it slowly – and I’m gonna take you with me!
